"The Motorcycle Diaries" comes to the Little Theatre

Feb. 1, 2005

KALAMAZOO--"The Motorcycle Diaries," a 2005 Academy Award nominee and Cannes Film Festival winner, based on the true experiences of a young Che Guevara, is Kalamazoo Film Society's February screening at Western Michigan University's Little Theatre.

Showtimes for "The Motorcycle Diaries" are Friday, Feb. 11, at 7 and 9:30 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 12, at 4:30, 7:00 and 9:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 13, at 2:30 and 5 p.m. Admission is $5 or $3 for students.

The film by Walter Salles tells the story of young Ernesto Guevara and Alberto Granado as they take an adventurous 8,000-mile journey to discover the real Latin America. Along the way, the trip becomes a discovery of self as well. Based on the memoirs written by both men about their 1952 trek, it examines the emotional and political choices we make in life and the process of finding one's place in the world. During the film, the audience gains insight into the events that helped change Ernesto Guevara into the iconic figure now known as Che.

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on Western Michigan University's East Campus. Free off-street parking is located behind the theatre.
