WMU HOME > ABOUT WMU > WMU NEWS Atkins and Boodt honored at retirement receptionsMarch 15, 2005 KALAMAZOO--Two employees, who combined have more than 70 years of service to Western Michigan University will be recognized during separate retirement receptions. Friends and colleagues from the campus and Kalamazoo communities are welcome. Michael B. Atkins will be honored from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, at the Oaklands. He has served as a member of the engineering faculty since 1971. As dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences for the past three years, he oversaw relocation of the college from Kohrman Hall to the new Parkview Campus. Atkins retires with 35 years of service, effective June 30. Paula J. Boodt will be recognized for her service from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at the Oaklands. She retires, effective March 31, with 35-1/2 years of service to WMU. Boodt served in a variety of administrative staff positions from 1969 to 1985, when she moved to the Graduate College, where she serves as coordinator of graduate admissions and recruitment.
