WMU HOME > ABOUT WMU > WMU NEWS Western Winds in free Dalton concert WednesdayMarch 18, 2005 KALAMAZOO--The Western Winds, under the direction of Robert Spradling, will give a free performance Wednesday, March 23, at 8:15 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall at Western Michigan University. The concert opens with a relatively obscure work by Mozart, the "Divertimento No. 3 in E-Flat Major," K.166 for pairs of oboes, English horns, clarinets, French horns, and bassoons. Graduate conducting assistant Matthew Westgate will lead the ensemble in a suite from Kurt Weill's "Threepenny Opera," and a new setting by Joseph Kreines of old American folk songs for brass and percussion will conclude the evening.
