March 28, 2005

KALAMAZOO--Hundreds of Western Michigan University students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the Kalamazoo community, are participating in the Colleges Against Cancer's 3rd Annual Relay for Life this weekend at WMU's Kanley Track.

Teams of runners and walkers begin their 24-hour trek at noon Friday, April 1, and continue through noon Saturday, April 2. Dozens of teams represent fraternities, sororities, residence halls, student organizations and local businesses. Among the top teams in pledges to runners and walkers are those representing WMU's College Against Cancer chapter, Henry Hall and St. Thomas More, each with pledges of more than $1,000. A team representing National City Bank has more than $3,500 in pledges. Contributions benefit the American Cancer Society.
