Registration, grades, other SIS services offline this weekend

April 28, 2005

KALAMAZOO--The new student information system at Western Michigan University, "Banner," will be offline from 8 a.m. Saturday, April 30, to not later than 8 a.m. Monday, May 2. The old student information system, ISIS, also will be unavailable during the same period.

Course registration, class lists, viewing grades, making tuition payments and other GoWMU features that are SIS-dependent will not be available. GoWMU is the university's intranet portal, which now provides secure, personalized services for all WMU students, faculty and staff.

This weekend's downtime is necessary for the migration of spring semester grades from the old system to the new one. This is the final major migration of student information, and there will not be a similar need to take the system offline again.

Monday begins the first academic session completely in the new system. WMU began the process of migrating thousands of current and former student records to the new system in February.
