2005 Bronco football schedule announced

May 26, 2005

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University has released its 2005 football schedule. This fall marks the football Broncos' centennial varsity season and their 58th year of competition in the Mid-American Conference.

The Broncos' 11-game slate features non-conference games against the University of Virginia, Southern Illinois University and Temple University. WMU added Temple to its schedule in place of the University of Wisconsin at the request of MAC officials.

The Broncos will play a pair of games in National Football League stadiums. WMU travels to Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field for the Temple game and takes on intra-state rival Eastern Michigan University at Detroit's Ford Field.

WMU will be tested early in the season. After debuting at Virginia, WMU travels to the Glass Bowl to face the defending MAC champion University of Toledo. The Broncos then host Southern Illinois on CommUniverCity Night. All three teams saw post-season action in 2004.

Central Michigan University visits Waldo Stadium Nov. 12 in the 76th renewal of one of the MAC's top rivalries. Other home contests for the Broncos are versus the University at Buffalo, Ball State University and Kent State University.
