VandenBrink, associate professor of mechanical and aeronautical engineering at Western Michigan University, is the 2004-05 recipient of the Theta Tau Outstanding Faculty Award. The award is given annually by the graduating seniors of the Pi Beta Chapter at WMU to a faculty member who "presents engineering concepts clearly, provides extraordinary assistance, motivates students to excel and teaches with enthusiasm." VandenBrink, a faculty member since 1984, is an expert in the areas of finite element analysis, stress analysis and system dynamics. He has served as a mentor to students working with undergraduate research awards and as an advisor to student organizations.
