Bernhard becomes one-stop service center

Aug. 25, 2005

KALAMAZOO--A temporary one-stop service center opened Aug. 22 in the Bernhard Center's East Ballroom, making it easier for students and their parents to take care of last-minute business associated with starting the new academic year.

The One-Stop Convenience Center offers numerous services in one central location, the top level of the Bernhard Center in the East Ballroom. Primarily for students, it will be open seven days a week until Friday, Sept. 9, except for Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3-5, when nearly all WMU offices will be closed for the holiday.

Bronco ID cards are being processed near by in Room 215, and as an added convenience, there is a textbook pre-order pick-up station on the Bronco Mall level of the building.

Those visiting the One-Stop Convenience Center are able to get new Bronco ID cards, pay bills, purchase campus parking permits, arrange for campus housing and sign up for a WMU meal plan. They also are able to obtain information about a variety of topics, including financial aid, employment opportunities, immunizations and other campus health care services.

The convenience center is being staffed by representatives from 12 administrative units: admissions and academic advising; cashiering, Career and Student Employment Services, customer account services, Dining Services, financial aid and scholarships, information technology, payroll, parking services, Residence Hall Life, the Registrar's Office; and the Sindecuse Health Center.

Faculty and staff should note that the One-Stop Convenience Center will get busier as more students return to campus. Those needing to take care of limited business should consider visiting the appropriate permanent offices, such as the parking services office in the Public Safety Annex, next to Faunce Student Services
