WMU United Way drive off to rousing start

KALAMAZOO--More than 40 percent of Western Michigan University's $210,000 goal for the United Way was received in the first week of the campus campaign.

During the week ending Sept. 24, $85,595 was received in gifts and pledges from 422 faculty, staff, emeriti and retirees, with 90 percent of the pledge cards turned in at the Sept. 20 kickoff gala in the Bernhard Center.

WMU President Judith I. Bailey is serving as the community campaign chair for the Greater Kalamazoo United Way campaign, which has announced a goal of $10.3 million for 2005.
