Students, faculty urged to comment on course registration

Nov. 5, 2005

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University President Judith I. Bailey ceremonially launch the new GoWMU course registration system nine months ago. Students are now registering for spring semester, which will complete the first full year of course registration using the new system.

The Registrar's Office is encouraging comments and suggestions from WMU students and faculty on course scheduling practices at the university. Two surveys, one for students and one for faculty members, are available in the Academic Services channel in GoWMU. Among other things, students are asked to rate the ease or difficulty of scheduling required courses, which times of day they would prefer most courses were offered and what factors influence their decisions when scheduling courses.

"When students and faculty members enter the Academic Services channel, they will see a link to the survey at the bottom of the page," says Registrar Barbara McKinney. "GoWMU will automatically identify them as a current student or faculty member and link them to the appropriate survey."

GoWMU is the university's secure intranet portal for students, faculty and staff. A Bronco NetID and password are needed to enter GoWMU.

The surveys will be available though the end of November. Questions may be sent to the Registrar's Office at registrar-info@wmich.edu.
