WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News More than 100 employers coming to WMUJan. 20, 2006 KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's 28th annual Career Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 2, in the East Ballroom of the Bernhard Center on the main campus in Kalamazoo. The event is free for job seekers and open to the public, but tailored for WMU's internship candidates, graduating students and alumni. Organized by the University's Career and Student Employment Services, the event is expected to attract more than 2,000 job candidates seeking to explore professional and internship options or to simply network with employers. No advance registration is required for the 2006 Career Fair, however job seekers should dress professionally and bring a pen and several copies of their current resumes. On hand for the fair will be some 120 organizations representing business, government, the life sciences, health care and manufacturing. Several Michigan universities will be making information available to those considering enrolling in graduate school. Participating, along with all of WMU's branch campuses, will be Andrews University, Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, the University of Michigan-Flint, the University of Phoenix and Wayne State University. Many employers will return Friday, Feb. 3, to conduct first-round interviews with select job candidates as a result of the fair. A series of workshops has been scheduled to help students prepare for the fair. These preparation events will provide career fair networking tips, resume critiques and practice interviews with employers. They are being offered by the Aerotek Co., Society for Excellence in Human Resources, and WMU's Writing Center and Diether H. Haenicke Institute for Global Education. The fair is being sponsored in part by a donation from MPI Research. Enterprise Rent-a-Car will again be providing complimentary transportation for employers. Welcoming employers and assisting with fair set up will be student volunteers from WMU's Alpha Lambda Delta honorary society, Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity, Honors Student Association and centennial football team.
