James P. Robinson

James P. Robinson, retired manager of the Audiovisual Center in what had been Media Services at Western Michigan University, died March 20, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. He was 82.

Robinson came to WMU in 1964 as news director and an announcer at WMUK and later was promoted to Audiovisual Center manager.

Previously, he had worked in commercial radio for eight years and served as a YMCA Boys' Work secretary for two and one-half years. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Denver and a master's degree from WMU.

A Nebraska native, Robinson was active in numerous local civic and service groups and served as international president of the Kalamazoo Round Table. He joined the U.S. Air Force during World War II and served as a member of a tank battalion.
