Tommy Lee Jones stars in Cannes Fesitval winner

KALAMAZOO--Kalamazoo Film Society presents 2005 Cannes Film Festival winner "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada," Friday through Sunday, May 19-21, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Little Theatre show times for "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7:00 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and $3 for students. The film is rated R or brief violence.

A contemporary American western, "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada," starring and directed by Tommy Lee Jones, is the story of how far one man will go to honor the wish of a dead friend. It is also a study of the emotional, psychological, spiritual and social implications of having an international border running through the middle of a culture.

"Three Burials" earned Jones the Cannes International Film Fesival Best Actor award, and Guillermo Arriaga won the Cannes award for Best Screenplay.
