Free aphasia workshop offered

KALAMAZOO--Students and clients of the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at Western Michigan University are offering a free workshop Tuesday, June 6, about communicating with people who have aphasia.

The training session will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Charles Van Riper Language Speech and Hearing Clinic on the third floor of the University Medical and Health Sciences Center at 1000 Oakland Drive, Kalamazoo.

The workshop will focus on how to support the conversation of people with communication disorders, including the inability to use or comprehend words that is frequently the result of a stroke or other brain injury. Nurses, social workers, medical office staff and other health and allied health professionals are among those who will benefit from the session.
