MAC academic honors go to four women's tennis players

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's women's tennis team, 2006 champions of the Mid-American Conference, placed four players on the All-MAC Academic Team.

Senior Rattiya Hiranrat of Samutprakarn, Thailand, made her second straight appearance on the All-MAC Academic Team. She maintains a 3.60 grade-point average and is majoring in organizational communication. Senior Reedhina Parekh from Calcutta, India, is also making a repeat appearance. Parekh has a 3.89 GPA in finance.

Making the All-MAC Academic Team for the first time are senior Malena Remynse of Portage, Mich., who has a 3.59 GPA in elementary group minors, and junior Carrie Jeanmaire from Belvidere, Ill., who has a 3.67 GPA and is majoring in nursing.

Nominees for All-MAC Academic Teams must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA and must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's contests. First-year students are ineligible.
