Students begin moving into residence halls

Aug. 24, 2006

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's fall semester formally opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, with the start of 2006-07 classes; but thousands of new and returning students will be on campus before then, settling in for a new semester, attending various events, and patronizing the WMU Bookstore and the Bernhard Center's Bronco Mall.

Student athletes have already begun moving into the residence halls, and band members and international students will begin moving in starting this weekend. Early move-in for those participating in Fall Welcome, the University's four-day comprehensive orientation program for first-year students, will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29.

The residence halls will officially open at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1. Most of the hall's expected 4,600 residents will be finished moving in by the end of the day Saturday Sept. 2. Student volunteers, dubbed Bronco Buddies, will be available on Aug. 29, Sept. 1 and Sept. 2 to help students move in.
