WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News Fall Welcome attracts more than 2,800 studentsAug. 25, 2006 KALAMAZOO--Students set to begin their careers at WMU this fall have a chance to get the hang of campus life early by attending Fall Welcome, a four-day transition program that offers participants a chance to move into their residence halls, learn about the Kalamazoo community, get grounded in campus traditions and start socializing with their fellow students. More than 2,800 new students are signed up for the Tuesday, Aug. 29, through Friday, Sept. 1, event--about 800 more than last year when Fall Welcome debuted. Fall Welcome highlights include a convocation in Miller Auditorium at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30; a hands-on tour to explore downtown Kalamazoo from 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday; an Academic and Health Fair from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday; a small-group race to become familiar with campus places from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday; and a Thursday Stadium Night pep rally with food, live music and interactive games.
