WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News Constitution Day panel examines Supreme CourtSept. 18, 2006 KALAMAZOO--"The Constitution and the Supreme Court" will be discussed at a special Constitution Day Forum, focusing on the impact of recent count appointees, Justice Samuel Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts. The program, which is free and open to the public, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in room 1010 of the Fetzer Center at Western Michigan University. Panelists for the discussion include Dr. Ashlyn Kuersten and Dr. Mark Hurwitz, both members of the WMU political science faculty. Constitution Day is officially Sept. 17, the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. The day is commemorated annually with programs relating to citizenship, the law, justice and the definition of American freedom. The Constitution Day Forum is sponsored by the WMU Department of Political Science, Institute for Government and Politics and Pre-Law Society.
