The Donna St. John Leadership Award goes to student employees of WMU's orientation program. It was created and funded by the Office of Orientation and First-Year Experience Programs in recognition of St. John's longstanding contributions to the program and the positive influence she has had on countless student leaders and administrative staff. Primavera received the honor in part because of her tireless dedication to the Office of Orientation for more than three years. St. John headed orientation between 1992 and 1999, when she was named associate director of admissions, and has remained actively involved in orientation activities. The award named in her honor was announced at the annual orientation banquet July 6. Salatha Willis, coordinator of orientation, says the new award is voted on by all the orientation program's professional and student staff. "The award recognizes revered leadership and outstanding stewardship of a student leader," Salatha says. "It signifies that the recipient has gone above and beyond the call of duty in the eyes of their peers and colleagues. This is not dissimilar to what Donna has accomplished for many years here at WMU." Media contact: Jeanne Baron, (269) 387-8400, jeanne.baron@wmich.edu WMU News |
