CECP chair receives national service award

KALAMAZOO--The interim chair of the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University has received a national award.

Dr. Patrick H. Munley, a professor of counselor education and counseling psychology, is the recipient of the 2006 W. James Cosse Distinguished Service Award for Extraordinary Contributions to the Professional Practice of Counseling Psychology. The American Academy of Counseling Psychology, or AACoP, presented the honor to Munley during its annual meeting Aug. 11 in New Orleans.

Munley holds a diplomate in counseling psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology and is a licensed professional counselor in Michigan as well as a licensed psychologist in Michigan and New Jersey.

He served as AACoP president in 2004-05, was a member of the editorial board for the Counseling Psychologist from 2003-05, and has been an examiner in counseling psychology for the American Board of Counseling Psychology since 1999.

AACoP membership consists of counseling psychologists Board Certified by the ABPP.
