WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News Paper engineering holds open houseNov. 29, 2006 KALAMAZOO--Prospective students and their parents are invited to a sneak peek into the world of paper making and paper engineering programs during Western Michigan University's Paper Engineering Mill Day and Open House Dec. 1-2 on the University campus and in downtown Kalamazoo. The two-day event begins Friday from 4-6 p.m. at Graphic Packaging Corp.'s Carton Plant, 1421 N. Pitcher St. Participants will receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the local carton mill. Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon WMU's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences will host an open house in the Student Commons, First Floor, Room B-116. Participants will learn about the University's paper engineering program, its $20,000 Paper Technology Foundation Scholarship program, career opportunities and starting salaries for paper engineers, and tour the program's state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities. Faculty and paper engineering students will be available to answer questions.
