WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News Herrington edits book on playwritingDec. 9, 2006 KALAMAZOO--Dr. Joan Herrington, chair of Western Michigan University's Department of Theatre, has co-edited a new book, "Playwrights Teach Playwriting." The book, published in September by Smith & Kraus, features a collection of essays by well-known playwrights. Each explores the pedagogy of playwriting and provides practical and tested advice, exercises, and course structures. Herrington, who joined WMU in 1996, has two other books to her credit and also has had major articles published in such journals as Theatre Topics, for which she serves as editor. Her current research focuses on the creative processes of playwrights and directors.
