Distinguished Scholar nominations due in January

Dec. 12, 2006

KALAMAZOO--The Distinguished Faculty Scholar Committee is seeking nominations for the 2006-07 Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award. The deadline for nominations is Saturday,
Jan. 20.

Up to three awards may be made each year. Those selected during this cycle will be honored at a ceremony yet to be scheduled. Each winner will receive a $2,000 honorarium that becomes part of the recipient's base salary, a plaque, and an opportunity to present a lecture, exhibition or performance for the University community.

The Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award is based on outstanding professional achievements. The accomplishments may be artistic, historical, literary, philosophical, scientific or technical. Wide recognition beyond WMU is essential. All current, continuing board-appointed full- and part-time persons with faculty rank are eligible. However, they must have at least seven academic years of service to WMU and may not win the award twice.

Guidelines and nomination forms are available on the research Web site at www.wmich.edu/research/distinguished.html. For more information, contact Dr. Ernst A. Breisach, professor emeritus of history, at ebreisach@sbcglobal.net or (269) 387-4590.
