"Old Joy" is a story of friendship, loss and alienation

Jan. 5, 2007

KALAMAZOO--Kalamazoo Film Society presents "Old Joy" Friday through Sunday, Jan. 12-14, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Little Theatre show times for "Old Joy" are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday, 4:30, 7 and 9 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and $3 for students. The 2006 film is not rated.

Written and directed by Kelly Reichardt, "Old Joy" is the story of two old friends, Kurt (Will Oldham) and Mark (Daniel London), who reunite for a weekend camping trip in the Cascade mountains of Oregon. The two men's lives have taken divergent paths--Mark is soon to become a first-time father and Kurt chain-smokes marijuana. "Old Joy" is a minimalist story of friendship, loss and alienation.

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on WMU's historic East Campus. There is free off-street parking behind the theatre. For more information, call the movie line at (269) 387-8221, or visit KFS at www.kalfilmsociety.net.
