WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News Surreal comedy "Science of Sleep" comes to WMUJan. 14, 2007 KALAMAZOO--Western Film Society presents the Kalamazoo-area debut of the 2006 surreal comedy "The Science of Sleep," the newest film by the Academy Award winning writer and director of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," Friday through Sunday, Jan. 19-21, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7 and 9:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 and 5 p.m. General admission is $5 and $3 for students. The film is rated R for language, some sexual content and nudity. "The Science of Sleep," is written and directed by Michel Gondry and stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Charlotte Gainsbourg. The story takes place mostly in the subconscious mind of Stephane (Bernal), a lonely young man in Paris, who longs for a relationship with his attractive neighbor Stephanie (Gainsbourg). The film moves back and forth from his dream world to the real world using Gondry's playful aesthetic with stop-motion animation and stunning visuals. The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on WMU's historic East Campus. There is free off-street parking behind the theatre.
