Rare paper and book art on display in Waldo

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University will host two lectures in conjunction with "Celebrating Handmade Books, Paper and Printing," an exhibition of original paper and book art that is on display on the first and third floors of Waldo Library's Upjohn Rotunda during library hours through March 16.

The exhibit and lectures are free and open to the public. Both lectures will be held in the Meader Rare Book Room of Waldo Library.

Tuesday, Feb. 6, 4:30 p.m.
Eve Reid, adjunct assistant professor of art at WMU, will discuss the basics of paper art in "Papermaking--Ancient Craft: New Art."

Thursday, Feb. 22, 4:30 p.m.
Local artist and coordinator of WMU's Instructional Technology Center, Pamela Rups, will share her techniques and experiences in "How I made a Medieval Manuscript." Rups holds a master's degree in Medieval studies from WMU.
