Conn trombonist gives free recitalMarch 3, 2007 KALAMAZOO--Guest artist Eileen Russell will present a trombone and euphonium recital at 8:15 p.m. Monday, March 12, in Western Michigan University's Dalton Center Recital Hall. Her performance is free and open to the public. During her visit to WMU, Russell will also conduct a master class, which is open to the public free of charge, Tuesday, March 13, at 3 p.m. in 1116 Dalton Center. Eileen Russell is a trombone clinician and artist with C.G. Conn, the oldest and one of the most-respected manufacturers of band instruments in America. She also teaches low brass at Southwestern University and is a euphonium instructor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Mich. She has performed at International Trombone Association festivals, International Tuba Euphonium Association regional conferences, and several other national and international music conventions. Articles by Russell have been published in Instrumentalist and Southwestern Musician magazines, and in such prestigious journals as the International Trombone Association Journal and the International Tuba Euphonium Association Journal. She is assistant membership coordinator for the International Tuba Euphonium Association and an active member of the International Trombone Association. Russell received a bachelor's degree and doctor of music degree from Indiana University and a master's degree from the University of Northern Iowa.
