KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's Bronco hockey team hosts the University of Alaska Fairbanks in the third and decisive match of a Central Collegiate Hockey Association best-of-three series Sunday, March 4. The contest begins at 7:30 p.m. in Lawson Ice Arena on WMU's main campus in Kalamazoo.

Tickets are $14 and can be purchased at Lawson Arena or wmubroncos.com. Admission is $5 for WMU students and all KOHA and GRAHA youth hockey players, eighth grade or younger.

The series is tied 1-1 after Alaska stunned WMU Friday night, scoring twice in the final 2:30 of regulation and winning 3-2 in overtime. The Broncos responded with three unanswered first-period goals in Saturday's contest and went on to a convincing 6-2 win.

WMU is the No. 6 seed in the CCHA Tournament and finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-16-1 and 14-13-1 in conference competition. The Broncos won 10 of their final 14 and five of their final six regular season matches, including two-game sweeps of Michigan State and Alaska.

Alaska was 9-18-6 overall and 7-15-5 in the CCHA and is the 11th seed in the tournament. In two regular season contests Feb. 9-10 at Lawson Arena, Alaska out-shot WMU by a combined total of 60-39, but managed only two goals on 60 shots and lost 2-1 and 3-1.
