Historian discusses persecution in the Middle Ages

KALAMAZOO--The expulsion of Jews from Spain during the Middle Ages is the topic of a free lecture Thursday, March 15, at Western Michigan University. Award-winning author David Nirenberg will speak on "Race and the Middle Ages: The Case of Spain and Its Jews" at 7 p.m. in Putney Auditorium of the Fetzer Center. A reception precedes the lecture at 5:30 p.m.

David Nirenberg, the Charlotte Bloomberg Professor of the Humanities at Johns Hopkins University, is the author of the multi-award-winning book "Communities of Violence: Persecution of Minorities in the Middle Ages."

Nirenberg's visit is sponsored by WMU's History Graduate Student Organization.
