WMU unaffected by KVCC closing

April 19, 2007

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University offices have received a high volume of phone calls following this morning's news announcement that the campuses of Kalamazoo Valley Community College will be closed through the weekend because of a very specific threat made against KVCC.

WMU officials are monitoring very closely the situation at the neighboring community college. There is no known threat to WMU, and the University will continue normal operations.

The University community, family members and friends are reminded that emergency announcements will be posted immediately on the WMU home page, with additional information available in WMU News. As prescribed under WMU's emergency communication plan, announcements will also be available on the University's Emergency Information Line at (269) 387-1001.
