Haenicke sponsors East Campus cleanup

May 9, 2007

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University Interim President Diether H. Haenicke is inviting students and other members of the campus community to participate in a "Clean Up East Campus" event from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 12, on the grounds of the University's historic original campus on Oakland Drive.

The University's Landscape Services will supply gloves and plastic bags for trash and debris collected during the event. The cleanup will cover an area bordered by Oakland Drive, Bellevue, Austin and Davis streets. Volunteers should check in near the East Hall main entrance on the side overlooking downtown Kalamazoo.

Haenicke first raised the topic to students who are part of his Facebook community, and decided to extend the invitation to the broader campus community. For more information contact Jon Andrews in the Office of the President at (269) 387-2351.
