WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News F.W. "Fred" SchaeberleMay 16, 2007 Dr. F.W. "Fred" Schaeberle, Western Michigan University professor emeritus of accountancy, died April 29 in Portage, Mich. He was 81. Born in Ann Arbor, Mich., Schaeberle served in the U.S. Army in World War II and came to Kalamazoo in 1965 from Missouri to work for WMU. He served on the accountancy faculty for more than 30 years, retiring in 1995. Schaeberle was a member of the American Accounting Association, Internal Auditors Association and Beta Alpha Phi. He is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Dorothy "Diane" (Crowell) Schaeberle. A visitation with family members was held May 2, and a private family service was to take place at a later date.
