Cannes best film of 2006 comes to Little Theatre

May 29, 2007

KALAMAZOO--The Kalamazoo Film Society presents "The Wind that Shakes the Barley," winner of last year's Cannes Film Festival Golden Palm award, Friday through Sunday, June 8-10, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Little Theatre show times for "The Wind that Shakes the Barley" are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and $3 for students. The 2006 film is rated "PG-13" for graphic violence and has a run time of 127 minutes.

Cillian Murphy, Liam Cunningham and Orla Fitzgerald star in this dramatic interpretation of the Irish War of Independence. Set in early 20th-century Ireland, "The Wind that Shakes the Barley" tells the compelling story of two brothers, Damien (Murphy) and Teddy (Padraic Delaney), who are torn apart by fighting that began in the 1920s and still reverberates more than seven decades later.

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on WMU's historic East Campus. There is free off-street parking behind the theatre.
