Employees honored at annual awards luncheon

May 31, 2007

KALAMAZOO--Five Western Michigan University employees have been recognized for making significant contributions to the University.

The staff members were honored May 18 at the Spring Awards Luncheon sponsored by the Administrative Professional Association and the Professional Support Staff Organization.

The annual event brings together WMU's two nonbargaining employee groups to celebrate the hard work and dedication of University staff members.

Those attending the APA/PSSO luncheon were encouraged to don WMU apparel, in keeping with this year's theme Wonderful World that is Western!, and were treated to the antics of the University's mascot, Buster Bronco.

The event featured the presentation of the sponsoring organizations' five annual awards. The employees winning those accolades, along with the names of the awards they received, are:

  • Jennifer Bailey, assistant director of fitness in University Recreation, APA Outstanding New Professional Award
  • Tammy Boneburg, graphic designer in the Office of University Relations, APA Tony Griffin Service Award
  • Lynda Hunt, director of gift processing in the Development Office, APA Outstanding Professional Award
  • Sally Laws, finance specialist in accounts receivable, PSSO Service Award
  • Janet Liebendorfer, office coordinator in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, PSSO Service Award

In addition, Sue Green, program director for the Bernhard Center, received a WMU spirit award from the luncheon's organizing committee members.
