Training sessions offered for international students

KALAMAZOO--A series of job training workshops for eligible international students are being held at Western Michigan University through mid-August.

The Optional Practical Training workshops are intended to provide hands-on work experience that complements a student's academic program and are offered to F-1 international students--those who have been lawfully enrolled at the University on a full-time basis for at least one academic year.

All workshops will be held in Room 205 of the Bernhard Center except for the workshop on June 26, which will be in Room 107 of the Bernhard Center. Registration is required to attend. Upcoming sessions will run from:

  • 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20
  • 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26
  • 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14
  • 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 18
  • 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26
  • 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4
  • 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14

In addition, an employment options workshop will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, in Room 205 of the Bernhard Center so F-I international students can learn more about their various employment options, including curricular practical training and on-campus jobs as well as optional practical training.
