Alumni Association selects leadership for 2007-08

KALAMAZOO--Twelve officers, executive committee members and directors have been elected to terms on the 2007-08 Western Michigan University Alumni Association Board of Directors, effective July 1.

Four serving one-year terms as officers

President--Kirk Hoffman of Jackson, Mich., vice president of planning services at King Trust Company in Spring Arbor, Mich. Hoffman earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from WMU in 1986. First elected to the board in 2001, he is serving a second term as president. He also has served as vice president and treasurer, and has been chairperson of the Finance Committee as well as a member of the Executive and Scholarship committees.

Vice president--Richard D. Bailey II of DeWitt, Mich., executive vice president and chief lending officer at Community National Bank of the South in Lake Mary, Florida. Bailey earned a Master of Business Administration degree from WMU in 1985. First elected to the board in 2003, he has served two terms as treasurer, and has been on the Executive, Finance and Scholarship committees.

Treasurer--Philip Chludzinski of Kalamazoo, CPA and partner of Brink, Key & Chludzinski, P.C. in Kalamazoo. Chludzinski earned a BBA degree from WMU in 1980. First elected to the board in 2005, he has served on the Scholarship and Marketing committees.

Past president--Dale Tanis of Hamilton, Mich., chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance at the Irwin Seating Co. in Grand Rapids, Mich. Tanis earned two degrees from WMU, a BBA in 1974 and an MBA in 1984. First elected to the board in 2000, he served as the president last year and vice president in 2004-05. He also previously served two terms as treasurer, and has been chairperson of the Finance Committee as well as a member of the Executive and Scholarship committees.

Eight elected to board of directors

Four directors were elected to one-year terms on the WMU Alumni Association's Executive Committee. Alumni joining the organization's officers on this committee will be: Margean Gladysz of Tinton Falls, N.J., Bachelor of Science 1975, senior vice president and regional director at National Executive Service Corps in New York; Jonathan Knowels of East Lansing, Mich., Bachelor of Arts 2003, chief of staff for state Rep. Kevin Green; James Koessel of Grand Rapids, Mich., B.A. 1972, executive vice president at Byron Center State Bank in Grand Rapids; and Christopher Womack of Atlanta, B.S. 1979, executive vice president for external affairs at the Georgia Power Co. in Atlanta.

Four association members were elected to three-year terms on the board. These alumni are: Charles E. Binder of Bay City, Mich., B.A. 1972, U.S. District Court magistrate judge for the Eastern District of Michigan; Christopher J. LaLonde of Kalamazoo, B.A. 2001, associate attorney at Willis & Willis, PLC; William E. Morden of Milford, Mich., BBA 1974, managing partner in the TMV Group in Wixom, Mich.; and Angela Davis Robinson of Bolingbrook, Ill, B.A. 1974, senior vice president for administrative services with Central Bank Services and Finance at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
