All main systems were restored and fully operational as of 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13. The final two main systems to be restored were WMU's e-learning service, previously known as WebCT Vista, which was restored by 4 p.m. Monday, and the University's main e-mail service, also known as ECS or e-communication mail, which was restored by 7 p.m. Monday. Many University computer services remained down following scheduled maintenance and upgrades Sunday morning. A series of unforeseen software and hardware problems contributed to the difficulty in restoring systems, according to WMU information technology officials. By early Monday morning, Aug. 13, most services accessed through GoWMU, the University's secure intranet portal; nearly all public Web pages; and Groupwise e-mail service were available.
