At Western Michigan University students, faculty and others accessing the Internet on WMU campuses were unable to access any Web sites except for those at WMU and other schools on the Merit system. At the same time, students, faculty and others off campus were unable to access any WMU Web pages or Web-based services, including GoWMU, the University's secure intranet portal. Merit is a statewide Internet consortium serving state government, Michigan's public higher education institutions and others.
