WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News Director Sarah Polley's debut film screens at Little TheatreAug. 20, 2007 KALAMAZOO--The Kalamazoo Film Society presents "Away from Her," the acclaimed film from first-time director and renowned Canadian actress Sarah Polley, Friday through Sunday, Aug. 24-26, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University. Show times for "Away from Her" are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and $3 for students. "Away from Her" is an intimate film about life, loss, and the unbroken sacrifice and renewal of true love. Starring Julie Christie, Olympia Dukakis, Gordon Pinsent and Michael Murphy, it is the story of a 50-year marriage that begins to deteriorate when Grant (Pinsent) must face the progression of his wife Fiona's (Christie) Alzheimer's disease. As the distance between them grows, the couple finds that although their marriage has changed, the core of their love remains. "Away from Her" is shown in English. The 2006 film has a run time of 110 minutes and is rated PG-13 for strong language. The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on WMU's East Campus.
