WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News Stefan SareniusAug. 30, 2007 Stefan Sarenius, a staff member at Western Michigan University for more than 30 years, died Aug. 6. He was 65. Sarenius came to WMU in 1973 and retired as a library assistant at Waldo Library in 2004. While employed at the library, he also subbed for the campus letter carrier during part of his time at the University. A native of Kalamazoo, Sarenius earned three degrees from WMU, a bachelor's in history. a master's in history and a master's in library science. He had a thirst for knowledge and was an avid reader throughout much of his life, and is remembered as a kind man with strong values. Sarenius was part of the committee that helped develop WMU's campus master plan in 2000 and was an active member of the University's Professional Support Staff Organization. He served on the PSSO Executive Board for many years and received the group's service award in 2004. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Michigan Cancer Center.
