It's all part of the station's fall 2007 "Short Drive" fund-raising campaign. WMUK is encouraging listeners to donate prior to the beginning of on-air pledging, which starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. "We are counting on pre-drive and online support in our upcoming Short Drive to help us reach our goal of $200,000 quickly," said Gordon Bolar, WMUK's development director. To date, mail-in contributions and pledging on-line at www.wmuk.org have helped the station make substantial progress toward its goal. WMUK's Web ticker features up-to-date results of the station's Short Drive, now and throughout the campaign. Funds raised will help pay for acquisition costs of high quality programs from National Public Radio, Public Radio International, the BBC and American Public Media. The drive will also help cover costs associated with local program production. More than 80 volunteers will be on hand to answer phones during the on-air portion of the drive. Those interested in volunteering can go to the volunteer section of the Web site at www.wmuk.org. Media contact: Mark Schwerin, (269) 387-8400, mark.schwerin@wmich.edu WMU News |
