Volunteers are winners, too, at Campus Classic

Oct. 12, 2007

KALAMAZOO--A chance to win airline tickets or one of 10 Western Michigan University parking passes is waiting at the finish line for volunteers of the 2007 WMU Homecoming Campus Classic, Saturday, Oct. 20.

The annual Homecoming Campus Classic is a 5K run and 5K and 1K fun walk and run that winds through WMU's central Kalamazoo campus. It attracts more than 1,500 participants and is one of the University's most popular homecoming activities. Nearly 250 volunteers are needed to help the race run smoothly and successfully.

Volunteers are needed to serve in a number of positions, including as course marshals, finish line monitors and water stop workers. Those who volunteer will generally be asked to work from 7 to 11 a.m. Each volunteer will receive a free T-shirt and food before and after the race. They also will qualify for a chance to win a $500 airline travel voucher from AAA Michigan. In addition, WMU students who volunteer will be entered to win one of 10 WMU parking passes.

Those who would like to register as a Campus Classic volunteer, may do so online at www.wmich.edu/race/volunteering. For more information, contact the Homecoming Campus Classic at campus-classic@wmich.edu or (269) 387-8402.
