Action-packed anime "Paprika" plays at Little Theatre

Nov. 2, 2007

KALAMAZOO--Kalamazoo Film Society presents the Japanese animation "Paprika" Friday through Sunday, Nov. 9-11, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Show times for "Paprika" are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and $3 for students.

In the not-too-distant future, scientists mix technology with groundbreaking psychotherapy to develop a device that allows them to enter a subject's dreams. When the devices are stolen and used to perform mind control, chaos takes over as dreams begin to blur into reality.

Directed by Satoshi Kon, this cautionary tale is bursting with stunning and inventive animation, and played out to catchy J-pop music.

"Paprika" is shown in Japanese. It has a run time of 90 minutes and is rated R for violent content.

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on WMU's East Campus. Free off-street parking is available behind the theatre.
