WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News Collegium Musicum brings centuries-old music to lifeNov. 8, 2007 KALAMAZOO--Collegium Musicum, Western Michigan University's early music ensemble of 18 singers and 12 instrumentalists, will perform at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public. The evening's program will consist of English madrigals, songs and instrumental dances from the late 16th and early 17th centuries--the time of Queen Elizabeth I and King James I. Directed by Dr. Matthew Steel, WMU associate professor of music, Collegium Musicum features a chorus as well as instrumentalists playing lute, harpsichord, viol, recorder, sackbut, cornetto and organ.
