Interior designer wins national awards

Nov. 9, 2007

KALAMAZOO--Sheri Harper, an interior designer at Western Michigan University, picked up four awards in the Association of University Interior Designers' 2007 design competition held in September.

Harper, who works in remodeling services, took first place in the "Renovation $50,000 to $150,000" category for a project that improved WMU's Human Resources office. The project also earned "Best of Show" in the same category.

In the "Renovation Under $50,000" category, she brought home a second-place award for enhancing Dunbar Hall's Media Studio "C" and a third-place award for enhancing the lobby in the dean's office of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Harper has been an AUID member since 2001-the same year she came to WMU-and began serving a two-year term in January as the of the association's publicist. She has won several other renovation-related AUID awards, and captured her first Best of Show honor in 2005 in the "new construction" classification for her work on the WMU-Southwest branch campus facility in Benton Harbor.
