Most WMU facilities closed Thanksgiving weekendNov. 19, 2007 KALAMAZOO--Except for essential and emergency services, Western Michigan University offices will be closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 22-25, for the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Thanksgiving recess officially begins at noon Wednesday, Nov. 21, and there are no afternoon or evening classes Wednesday. WMU offices will remain open Wednesday afternoon. Classes resume at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26. There are several public events scheduled on campus during the holiday weekend, including Bronco hockey matches versus Ohio State University at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23-24, at Lawson Arena; Bronco football versus Temple University at 2 p.m. Saturday in Waldo Stadium; and B.B. King in concert in Miller Auditorium at 8 p.m. Saturday. Listed below are Thanksgiving weekend hours for selected University offices and services. Faculty, students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that a particular office on campus is open. For emergencies only, contact WMU Public Safety at (269) 387-5555. Admissions office is closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 22-25. Bernhard Center and Bronco Mall close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, and will remain closed Thursday through Saturday. Some Bronco Mall stores, including the BCC Computer Lab, Subway, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut will be open reduced hours Sunday, Nov. 25. Visit the Bernhard Center on the Web for the holiday weekend hours of Bronco Mall stores. Computer lab in the Bernhard Center closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, and reopens at noon Sunday, Nov. 25; the UCC lab closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, is open noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. The Help Desk closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday and reopens at noon Sunday. Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, is closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 22-25. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers. Student Recreation Center closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, is open from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, and resumes normal hours Monday, Nov. 26. Unified Clinics is closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 22-25. Waldo Library closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, is open from noon Sunday to 3 a.m. Monday, and resumes normal hours at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26. To reduce energy costs while the University is closed, heating and cooling systems in all office and classroom buildings controlled by the WMU Building Energy Management System will be in "holiday mode." Air handlers will not run during this time, unless a space is exempt from the program or the temperature in a particular space goes outside of the range of 60 to 85 degrees.
