Broadway star headlines "Late Night Broadway"

KALAMAZOO-- Closing out its fall season with a bang, University Theatre at Western Michigan University presents "Late Night Broadway," a cabaret concert that features visiting Broadway star, Leah Hocking, performing alongside graduating seniors of WMU's musical theatre performance program.

Productions take place at 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 6-8, in Williams Theatre at WMU's Gilmore Theatre Complex.

The student cast of "Late Night Broadway," which is directed and staged by WMU assistant professor of theatre Jay Berkow, includes Shelagh Brown, Brynn Curry, Jana DeBusk, Meagan Eager, Lars Haglund, Beau Hutchings, Karrie Kinsman, Paul Luoma, Melissa McKim, Nicole Miller, Patrick Newton, Topher Nuccio, Chelsea Rogers and Ashleigh Twining. The creative team includes students Josh Reid, sound designer; Samantha Soska, lighting designer; and Laura O. Williams, stage manager, as well as WMU staff member Courtney Phelps, musical director.

Hocking is the renowned leading lady of Broadway's "Great White Way." She starred in the original production of "All Shook Up," "Dance of the Vampires," "Jekyll and Hyde" and "The Wild Party." Hocking's Broadway credits also include "Hairspray," "Grease," "Mamma Mia!" and "Guys and Dolls."

General admission seating for "Late Night Broadway" is $17, $12 for senior citizens and WMU employees, and $8 for students. Tickets are available by calling (269) 387-6222, online at www.wmich.edu/theatre, or by visiting the Gilmore Theatre Complex Ticket, Miller Auditorium Ticket Office or Epic Center Box Office in downtown Kalamazoo. Group discounts are available. A cash bar is available for all performances.
