Local bands featured at AIDs benefit concert

Dec. 5, 2007

KALAMAZOO--Five local bands will perform on the campus of Western Michigan University Sunday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 10:30 p.m. at Kanley Chapel in a charity event to benefit children across the globe who have been affected or orphaned by AIDs.

The event, is free and open to the public, but donations are encouraged for Save the Children, an international charity that helps pay for medication and schooling for HIV/AIDS-positive children and counseling for them should they lose one or both of their parents to HIV/AIDS. The donations will be combined with efforts at local businesses to set up a change collection for the charity.

Bands lined up for the event including Their Teeth Will Be of Lions, A Mighty Little Boat, Kaline, The Giving Tree and Lake Effect.

The concert is sponsored by student organization VOX, Voices for Planned Parenthood at WMU. For more information on the event, please contact Veronica Castro at veronica.a.castro@wmich.edu.
