Area youngsters called to audition for "Peter Pan"

KALAMAZOO--Local children and teens between the ages of 9 and 18 are invited to audition to perform with the Grand Rapids Ballet in an upcoming production of "Peter Pan." Tryouts to join the cast as one of the Lost Boys will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, in Western Michigan University's Miller Auditorium.

Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. in the lobby. Auditions are expected to last until approximately 4 p.m., and are open to those who meet the age requirements and have had at least one year of dance or gymnastics training. Previous stage experience is preferred, but not necessary. There is no height requirement.

The audition will consist of learning and demonstrating choreography from the production. Everyone auditioning should bring their registration materials; wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing; and have ballet slippers, dance shoes or socks. For the safety of everyone auditioning, no bare feet will be permitted on stage.

Dancers selected during the Jan. 6 auditions will perform with members of the Grand Rapids Ballet in "Peter Pan" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, in Miller Auditorium.
