What features do you want with WMU e-mail?

Feb. 8, 2008

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University is studying ways to improve e-mail service for the WMU community and is soliciting recommendations from students, alumni, faculty and staff through an online survey.

The one-page survey takes only a few minutes to complete. It contains a list of 41 potential e-mail system features and asks survey participants to check those which are most important to them.

Examples of the features listed

  • Lets me access e-mail from anywhere
  • Spell checks messages as I type them
  • Is easy to use, with little or no training
  • Lets me share my calendar with others
  • Effectively blocks spam and computer viruses
  • Lets alumni have WMU e-mail accounts for life

Go to survey.atis.wmich.edu/atis/Email.htm to take the survey, which will be available until midnight Sunday, Feb. 17.

Another part of the review of WMU e-mail services will involve open campus meetings with system providers. The first of those meetings will be held later this month and will be announced in WMU News and through other campus media.

The study to improve WMU e-mail is being conducted by the Office of Information Technology. For more information about the process, contact Dr. James Gilchrist, vice provost and chief information officer, at james.gilchrist@wmich.edu or (269) 387-3855.
